Allow Poland At War Tours to take you on an exploration of the infamous German Concentration and Extermination Camp of Auschwitz, a solemn reminder of the atrocities committed during World War II. Auschwitz, the German name given to the camp, is located in the Polish city of Oświęcim. Join us on a special guided tour of both Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II – Birkenau, and engage with a past that should never be forgotten.
Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through Auschwitz I, initially an abandoned Polish Army barracks before World War II. Learn about the transformation of this site into a concentration camp, where countless innocent lives were imprisoned and lost. Witness the cells, the execution wall, and other haunting spaces within the camp as you reflect on the profound impact of human actions.
We then take the short journey to Auschwitz II – Birkenau and walk through the iconic gate that so many Jews, along with victims of various backgrounds, traveled through, never to return. See the ramp where prisoners were off-loaded from trains and the path leading to the gas chambers and crematoria. Learn about the desperate actions of the German forces who, as they fled the advancing Soviet Army, attempted to destroy evidence of their crimes by blowing up these grim structures.
It is estimated that approximately 1.1 million people died at Auschwitz, encompassing not only Jews but also Poles, Romani people, Soviet POWs, and others. Through this tour, we honor their memory and state unequivocally – Never Again!
Before you leave, take a moment to reflect on the enormity of the history surrounding you, and commit to remembering and educating others about the Holocaust and the importance of standing against hatred and intolerance.
